Winter has arrived, and there’s nothing like some food to warm you up from the inside. Here are some winter warming dishes that soothe the soul.

Curry

Nothing like spices and chilli to warm you up from the inside. One of the best curries I’ve had is at Mukka, a local favourite for Indian. My pick is the goat curry for its flavoursome sauce and tender protein.

BBQ
Burn City Smokers Pop-up Grand Hyatt (25) 8-hr smoked Tasmanian short rib, chimmichurri ($45)
As we know, fire isn’t just good for toasting our marshmallows and bodies, but also for cooking up some tasty barbecued meat. American BBQ joints are becoming more popular in Melbourne, and one notable discovery of late is Burn City Smokers, which serve up a mean beef rib. They mainly do pop-ups and festivals, but are currently over at the kitchens at the Grand Hyatt for a limited time.

Pasta

Pasta is the perfect candidate for packing in those Winter carbs. There are many fine pasta places, but one of my favourites is Tipo 00. The pasta is made in-house and perfectly cooked to al dente. I’m already longing for a return visit just thinking about it.

Baked Eggs

One of my favourite breakfast/brunch dishes to order during winter is baked eggs. The Tradesman’s version comes with beans and a vibrant herb sauce. Different and very satisfying.
