CHRISTMAS FRUIT TREE

Makes: 1

Preparation: 10 mins

Cooking: 20 mins

 

Ingredients

1 styrofoam cone

Toothpicks

Cookie cutters with various shapes

Assorted fruits eg. kiwi,strawberries,grape Herb garnish eg. coriander or parsley

 

Method

  1. Attach toothpicks to the styrofoam cone. Attach one piece each of a fruit to a toothpick
  2. Continue building the tree as dense as you want!
  3. Use coriander or parsley leaves as grass garnish.

Tips

If you only have a white styrofoam,you could drape some green paper on a white cone or attach fruits very densely so it resembles more like a tree trunk. - Think free-form; as the tree starts building you will know more about which fruit combinations are looking better and how densely packed you want your tree to be).

CHRISTMAS CRACKER SANTA

Makes: 20

Preparation: 10 mins

Cooking: 15 mins

 

Ingredients

20 Round butter crackers

20 Pepperoni slices

Cream cheese

Capers

Celery

 

Method

  1. Use kitchen scissor to cut pepperoni hat/
  2. Place the cream cheese into a Ziploc® plastic bag,making sure the bag is securely closed. Cut a small hole in one corner of the plastic bag. Attach the pepperoni to the cracker with a dab of the cream cheese.
  3. Pipe the cream cheese along the bottom of the pepperoni "hat" and to form the beard. Use the cream cheese to adhere the capers to the cracker for eyes.
  4. Slice the celery and adhere to the cracker for the moustache and a dab of cream cheese for the nose.

Tips
You can prepare in advance and keep in the fridge.

CHRISTMAS REINDEER MARSHMALLOW

Makes: 20

Preparation: 10 mins

Cooking: 15 mins

 

Ingredients:

Large Marshmallows

Lollipop Sticks Chocolate

Almond Bark

Red Chocolate Covered Candies

Mini Twist Pretzels

Round Pearl Sprinkles

Method

  1. Melt the chocolate almond bark according to the directions on the package.
  2. Break the mini twist pretzels in half and place them on waxed paper.
  3. Place a lollipop stick into one side of a large marshmallow. Dip the marshmallow into the melted almond bark, making sure that the marshmallow is completely covered. Place the chocolate dipped marshmallow on top of the pretzel halves on the waxed paper.
  4. Place the round pearl sprinkles onto the melted chocolate dipped marshmallow to form the eyes and a red chocolate covered candy to form the mouth. Allow time for the chocolate to set. Tips - You can tie a red ribbon as decoration. - You can use any type of chocolate blocks or buttons and melt according to direction on the pack.

CHRISTMAS PITA TREE

Makes: 32

Preparation: 25 mins

Cooking: 25 mins

 

Ingredients

4 Flavoured or Plain Pita Bread

16 Thin Pretzel Sticks,

Halved 1/2 Cup Fat-Free Sour Cream

1/2 Cup Guacamole

2 Tbsp. Parsley, Finely Chopped

1/4 tsp. Garlic Pepper Blend

1/4 Cup Red Bell Pepper (capsicum), Very Finely Chopped

 

Method

  1. Cut each pita fold into 8 wedges. Insert pretzel stick half into centre of bottom of each wedge to form "tree trunk"
  2. In small bowl, mix sour cream, guacamole, parsley and garlic-pepper blend. Spread about 1 teaspoon sour cream mixture on each pita wedge.
  3. Blot bell pepper with paper towel to remove excess moisture. Sprinkle about 1/4 teaspoon bell pepper on each wedge or arrange to form a garland.

Tips

To make your own guacamole.Simply mash a ripe avocado and throw in a dash of salt, lime juice and chopped garlic and coriander. - If desired, cover and refrigerate up to 8 hours before serving.

HOTDOG CHRISTMAS STOCKING

Makes: 20

Preparation: 10 mins

Cooking: 15 mins

 

Ingredients

10 Hotdogs

Cooked Cream Cheese at room temperature

Diced red peppers (capsicum)

Parsley

Skewers

 

Method

  1. Cut the hot dog as shown in the diagram.
  2. Insert the long toothpick into the hot dog, making sure to pierce both cuts of the hot dog.
  3. Place the cream cheese into a Ziploc® plastic bag, making sure the bag is securely closed . Cut a small hole in one tip of the plastic bag. Decorate the top of the hot dog with the cream cheese to form the stocking cuff.
  4. Place a sprig of parsley and a diced piece of red pepper on the cream cheese cuff for a festive holly garnish.

Tips

You can stick the skewers on cheese as a cheese tray.
